Greg was born and raised in Brantford. He has been part of the Freedom family since 1983. Formerly a civil litigation lawyer, Greg assumed the position of Lead Pastor in 1998.  How did he morph from lawyer to pastor?  It’s a good story that he’d love to tell you sometime.

Greg’s main role is leading what was a traditional church through a process of transformation to become a vibrant missional community that is an active blessing in Brantford and beyond.  His biblically based teaching provokes and challenges to embrace the “more and better life” that God promises.

Greg is currently a member of the FMCIC Study Commission on Doctrine and an instructor for the ‘Heart of Free Methodism’ foundational course.  He loves to watch rugby but play golf.

Greg and his wife, Kelly, are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year.  Kelly is a public school teacher.  They have two great kids – Greg Jr., who serves with the Canadian Armed Forces, and Kathryn, who is a Junior at Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, MA.

My name is Liisa Farrugia. I am the Assistant Pastor at Freedom Christian Community. My husband and I have been married for 25 years and we have one young teenaged son. My faith journey began as a child and it has been my desire to learn and grow in love, grace and trust ever since. For many years, my passion was helping young people learn. I was a school teacher and administrator for 16 memorable years before God lovingly moved me into a new direction- first helping with administration at the church and then into teaching and pastoral care. We welcome newcomers to worship and learn with us. Our prayer is that people will feel the welcoming embrace of God the Father here, and, that as they journey towards wholeness in Jesus with us, they will experience the wonderful transformative work of the Holy Spirit so that we can be a blessing to our community together.

Hi! My name is April Ashton. I have been privileged to be the Children’s Ministries Coordinator for the past 3 years. I have been married for ten years, and have one amazing daughter who is in the first grade. I have been a Christian for most of my life, and came to know Christ when I was very young, at summer camp. I am so blessed to be able to be a part of the lives of the children of our church and to see them grow in Christ. We welcome you to come join us on Sunday mornings as we learn about Christ and have lots of fun together. We will also be starting gather at regular monthly events, outside of church, to build lifelong friendships with each other. If you have any questions, or would like to join us, please feel free to email me at
